I woke up this morning with a text from my brother informing me that Chris Cornell died. He had already recommended that I listen to Audioslave, so today seemed as good a time as any. Audioslave is an album I know by the art, but I didn’t realize how many of the songs I knew until I listened to it today. While it looks like I didn’t enjoy the album all that much from the individual track ratings, I have to say I definitely liked the sound a lot. But it seemed to me that a lot of the songs were about 20 to 30 percent too long. They seemed to hang on a little too long, and I lost interest in them. Given how similar all the songs sound to each other, over an hour of play time for this album is too much. If you could cut down each of the individual tracks, and just dropΒ Getaway CarΒ completely, this would be a 5 star record.
