When I listened to Bleach last week, I was really surprised that I didn’t recognize a single track from that album. As I mentioned then, I have heard Nevermind countless times. But listening to it today, I was still surprised how many of the songs I recognized. Nevermind, particularly the first half, is just hit after smash hit. It’s completely bonkers how good the album is. I think the biggest problem with Bleach is how unapproachable it is. There’s nothing to hold on to while you’re listening to it. Nirvana is way more palatable, and way more enjoyable because of it. As I said, I was surprised how big of a deal Nirvana was given that they only put out 3 studio albums. But given how many great songs are on Nevermind, all of a sudden their huge impact with such a small catalog makes sense.
