I can’t remember where I heard it now, but somewhere this morning I heard part of Dance Hall Days, and instantly decided that that’s what I’d listen to today. I really like that song. I think it’s what other people would call a “guilty pleasure” song, except that I feel no shame for enjoying it. It’s a fun catchy tune. The rest of this album is total garbage though.
If I had to use a single word to sum up Points on a Curve it would be “cinematic.” Which at first blush might sound like a good thing, but it’s definitely neutral. Ennio Morricone’s music is cinematic in a good way. Points on a Curve sounded like the soundtrack to a terrible 80s rom com that definitely involved the tragic death of at least one of the main characters.
It also definitely has the weirdest (and probably the worst) ending of a song and album I’ve ever heard. Talk It Out just sort of stops right at what sounds like the beginning of a long fade out. I’ve always hated fade outs in songs, but now I know there’s a worse way to end it.
