I was watching Glove and Boots’ live stream on Twitch this afternoon (highly recommended if you can catch it – Friday 4PM Eastern) and while they played Rocket League, they listened to The Reverend Horton Heat. I hadn’t listened to anything yet, and didn’t have any plans, so after the stream was over I listened to REV; his most recent.
I really like Rockabilly, but I’m not sure I’ve ever sat down and listened to an entire Rockabilly album before, because I was almost immediately struck by how similar all the tracks sounded. I didn’t even notice the second track had even started until it was about 1/2 over. The album was still a lot of fun to listen to but aside from Longest Gonest Man, which gives off a very Johnny Cash vibe (more so than the rest), there’s not a ton of variety. Although the last two tracks are probably the least like the rest of the album and they were also the tracks I liked the least. So maybe give the people what they want? Who am I to say?
