This was another album I discovered by Shazaming a song and then making a note to myself to listen to it later. Left Hand Free is the song that brought this album (and band) to my attention. That song held up, and is just as good as the first time I heard it, but the entire rest of the album was straight up fucking horrible. Stylistically it was all over the map. At best it didn’t sound horrible, but most of the time the mixing was so bad that I wanted to stop listening before I even got to the song I liked to begin with. I think, maybe even including Left Hand Free, the best part of the record was the minute of silence at the end of Leaving Nara. That song was such torture to listen to that the relief of the album being over was better than the best song on the album.
