- After the Storm: π€·ββοΈ
When Babel came out in 2014 I bought it and Sigh No More and listened to them both a bunch, and then after a while, I went out of my way to avoid them. I had it in my head that I liked Mumford & Sons, but every time one of their songs came on shuffle I’d skip it. I was thinking about this (although I have no idea why) in the shower today, so I decided to listen to Sigh No More today, and I finally think I get it. I have a real love/hate relationship with their music. I don’t really have any middle ground with their songs. I either love them, when they’re all blue-grassy and full of banjo and driving melodies. And when they’re all up their own ass and boring and Coldplay / U2-y I hate them. I think the only reason After the Storm got a π€·ββοΈ and not a ππ» is because I liked itΒ because it was the last song and I was almost done listening to this.
I’m not sure I would say it wasn’t worth it to buy the albums, because I doΒ really like maybeΒ love the ππ» songs, and I’d never have bought them all as singles. … I guess what I’m getting at is I need to change the way iTunes syncs music to my phone so it doesn’t completely blacklist Mumford & Sons, it justΒ mostly blacklists them.
