I absolutely love this album. So much, that I actually intended to start the year and the project with it. I already explained why I didn’t, but I’m surprised it took me this long to get around to listening to it. If I were compiling a list of my top five favorite albums, I’m not sure where it would fall on the list, but there is absolutely no question it would be on there. Which is funny to me, because for a long time I was under the impression that I hated Bruce Springsteen. Eventually I realized that what I actually hate is Max Weinberg’s drumming — especially when it’s all echoey. I mentioned at least once in past posts that at some point I worked my way through multiple entire discographies. That project started with Bruce Springsteen, and since this is his first album, it really started here.

This is one of those albums that I gain more appreciation for every time I listen to it. Probably because of how poetic the lyrics are and how dense the listener is. Lost In The Flood is easily my favorite track. From there, it gets harder to rank them. I would call out some of my other favorites but it would basically just be a full list of the album’s tracks.
