I don’t really have much to say about this record. It definitely starts out strong, but the longer it went on the less I cared (which is also true about most, if not all of the songs individually.
I listened to this on Ryder’s recommendation, after I was talking to him about how bad I thought 808s and Heartbreak sounded, and how surprised I was by that. He suggested this and the album I’m going to listen to tomorrow as good tests for the gear I’m using. They are known to be of high quality at least in terms of engineering / mixing, so ifΒ they sound bad then the problem is definitely the equipment and not the music. As it turns out, it sounded mostly fine. I did think it sounded a little compressed, but I’m beginning to think that’s the fault of listening through Apple Music and at a very high volume more than anything else.
I think I said this in the Disorganized FunΒ post, but the more closely I tried to listen to this album the less I liked it. It’s best listened to when you’re busy doing something else. Which, again, is bad for this project but good to know for the future while I’m actually trying to get other stuff done.
